BW3 - Hot Wing Social with SWE
SWE and IEEE are holding a social event at BW3. It is from 6:30 to 9:00pm, and there is free food for all members.
Scholarships Available for Students
IEEE has two $500 scholarships from Marathon to give away this semester. To be eligible for this, you need to be a freshman or sophomore in engineering. To enter, please write an essay on "The Future of Electrical Engineering in the Oil Industry." The paper should be at least three pages long, double spaced. Cite your sources using IEEE standards. The essay is due March 21, 2008 by 6:00pm. Drop off your essay and resume to an officer in the office, which is at EE 014.
JubilIEEE
On Friday January 25, IEEE will be holding a social event called JubilIEEE. There will be free food, bowling, and pool. The event is at the Union bowling ally. It starts at 6:00pm and goes to 8:00pm. This is just a time for members to hang out and have a fun time, so please come join us.
IEEE Callout!
The Spring 2008 callout will be held this Thursday Jan. 17, 2008 in EE170 at 7pm. Learn about our various committees, and have some free pizza and drinks. If you miss the callout, you can drop by the office during the day. There is usually someone there. Alternately you can e-mail ieee@purdue.edu.
IEEE Website Competition
The Purdue IEEE Student Branch placed 2nd in the regional website competition. Congratulations to the Computer Committee.
How To Join
There are 2 requirements to be considered a Purdue IEEE Student Branch member. 1. Join IEEE national by going to http://ieee.org. Once you get your ID number, come to our office hours (http://purdueieee.org/office) and submit it to one of the officers. 2. Join one or more committee, and stay active. Committee meeting dates are also on the office hours page. If you cannot meet on those dates, e-mail the committe chair. Individual committee descriptions and contact information is listed in the committee's section on this website (http://purdueieee.org/committees).
Dynetics Information Session
Tuesday Sept. 11, from 5pm - 6:30 we will be hosting an information session in ME 261. Dynetics will be speaking about their company, as well as career opportunities. Free pizza and beverages will be provided!
JubilIEEE
For current and new members, a JubilIEEE social event will be held in the union bowling allies. Free bowling, pool, pizza, and drinks will be available. The date and time is 09/14/07 from 6-8pm.
The IEEE Callout!!!
The IEEE Student Branch will be holding it's callout on September 5th at 6:30pm. Leah Jamieson,
President of The IEEE International, and Dean of Engineering will be speaking. Food and beverages
will be provided. The location is PHYS 114. If you would like to receive e-mails regarding

Shortly after the callout, there will be a JubilIEEE social event for all current and new members.
Activities Bonanza
On Friday Aug 24, The IEEE will be participating in the annual Activities Bonanza hosted by PSUB. Mailing list signup, and committee projects will be showcased.
Aerial Team Completes JAUS Challenge At The IARC
This year at the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC), the Purdue team completed the JAUS challenge bringing back $750 for the club.
Grand Prix & IEEEXtreme Programming Contest Results
On April 21, IEEE's Grand Prix Committee placed 9th overall in the 50th Annual Grand Prix Race. They also placed 1st in a sprint race. The IEEEXtreme programming team placed in the upper 25% of the international competition.

Genomics Research in the 21st Century Presentation by Dr. Mike Kane
On thursday April 19, we will be hosting a technical presentation by Dr. Mike Kane. It will be in EE 117 at 7:00pm. Dr. Kane's teaching and scholarly interests include computational genomics, biotechnology, computational life sciences, and information systems in support of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences industry. Dr. Kane has numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, technical and editorial publications, book chapters and presentations, serves on the editorial advisory board of Genomics and Proteomics, and is a member of several technical and research societies.
ENvision
Saturday April 14, 2007 The IEEE Student Branch will be participating in ENvision. ENvision is held in cojunction with Purdue's Spring Fest, and will run from 10am to 5pm between Wetherill and Stanley Coulter. We will be showcasing the various projects that we work on throughout the year. For more information about ENvision and Spring Fest, see PESC, and Purdue Spring Fest.
Black & Veatch Tech Talk
On wednesday April 11, Black & Veatch will be making a presentation regarding controls, and the various engineering applications they are intimately involved in. There will be free beverages and pizza. This is a public event, and everyone is welcome to attend. The presentation will begin at 7:00pm in CIVL 1144.
IEEE vs HKN - Victory!!!
On saturday March 31, HKN was dealt a crushing defeat at the hands of IEEE. The score was not even close, 32 - 12 IEEE. In IEEE's first win ever, the all time high scoring record was destroyed with a whopping 32 points, previously set by HKN at 29. Revenge is a dish best served cold. However, thanks to HKN for organizing the event.
Dr. Jeff Evans - High Performance Computing & Clustering Tech Talk
Thursday March 29, we will be hosting a technical presentation by Dr. Jeff Evans in EE117 at 6:00pm. His presentation will cover high performance computing, and clustering. He will also present information regarding an upcoming competition sponsored by IEEE in regards to clustered computing. Free pizza and refreshments will be provided.
Paul Kostek - AIAA Presentation
On Wednesday March 28, the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Student Organization will be hosting an event featuring Paul Kostek. Paul is a former IEEE National President, and will be discussing "Personal Positioning for Engineers." It will be at 7:00pm in ME 161. AIAA Website

Spring 2007 CALLOUT!
Purdue IEEE Student Branch will be holding a callout on Thursday January 25, 2007 at 7:00pm in PHYS 114. EE, ECE, EET, ECET, and CS students are encouraged to attend. Pizza and beverages will be provided.
IEEEXtreme Programming Contest
Purdue has participated in the first ever International IEEEXtreme programming contest. The team consisted of Dustin Mitchell, Richard Arima, and Dave Matthews. Results should be in right after finals.
IEEE Region 4 Competition
Congratulations to the team that went to the Region 4 competition and came back with second place in the Ethics competition. The team consisted of Rich, Omar, Dustin, and Tim. The prize for second place brought back $200 for the club!
